Millboard Composite Decking in Chorleywood

Millboard composite decking in Chorleywood

A recent extension left the property without access into their rear garden. The garden had a natural slope to the garden which gave Karl the opportunity to design a Millboard composite decking platform. Karl chose the materials from Millboard due to their superior look and durability.

The decking platform had to be on many levels as the client preferred not to have a simple platform at one elevation with a basic set of steps. The architectural nature of these sweeping steps at varying directions reflects the contemporary style of the property. It also creates an exciting feature in the garden.

The decking floats over the garden planting because of its cantilevered design. A perfect place to hide some lights which give the illusion of the deck floating in the evenings.

Bronze balustrade, custom and contemporary

The changes in height between the decking step levels meant Karl had to conform to Part K of the current building regulations.  The bronze effect balustrade was chosen by Karl for its unique style which complements the Millboard Limed Oak decking.  The design, which incorporates thin verticals of metal, allowed for a clear and undisrupted view of the garden.

Karl did design and professionally landscape the rest of the garden. The path is extended into one corner of the garden to provide an area for a fire pit or hammock.

Karl said, “I love this garden. In particular I quite like sitting here because you can look back at the architecture of the decking and all the layers.”
