Small decking job in Chalfont St. Peter

A small garden in Chalfont St Peter with no usable terrace was in need of a space for outside dining. Overlooked by a commercial office and with a broken fence there was a little landscaping required too.

The decking design

In order to fill the space and preserve the exiting planting the decking had to be designed as a simple “L” shape. Mindful of the shed and existing path with consideration for a new fence the space was utilised to the full.

Even though the decking was rather small, all considerations for BS5268-7.1 were observed. The post supports and beams are in accordance with regulations as too for the joists. With no timber touching the floor and a weed membrane to cover the ground, we’ve built a structure to last.

The first and most important element of the design is the Before… This is what a designer must see through with a clear vision to enable the client to understand exactly what is being proposed.

Trex Enhance composite decking

The Composite decking used for this project in Chalfont St Peter is call Trex®. This is the largest composite manufacturer in the world and one which uses 95% recycled materials. The decking boards from this range have a warranty of 25 years against rotting. The colour of the main decking is called “Foggy Wharf”. The surrounding trim is “Calm Water” mitred at the corners.

Trex say “Foggy Wharf is a modern neutral; it blends salty grey hues with shades of dark silver. It features low maintenance, wood-like grain pattern”.
